Hello All,
Based on my searches through the forum, it sounds like I may need to replace (GRR!) my PA3535U-1BRS battery, however, before I lay out the cash for a new one, another set of eyes would help.
Here are the symptoms/background info:
OS: Vista 64-bit SP2; UBUNTU 9.04 (symptoms are identical)
Battery report: capacity 100%; current charge: 71.6 Wh; last charge: 83.3 Wh; design charge: 74 Wh; percentage charge:86%
I have never had any problems with this battery; in fact, I have never had a problem with any battery during what I would consider its useful life. This particular battery has been in service for less than one year; prior to sudden failure, it held a charge and I was happy with the performance. IThe following symptoms appeared suddenly. Coincidentally, earlier on the same day, I had updated power management settings.
Symptoms: Laptop A305 will not start on push power button; when adapter is in use, battery charge light is ON; when adapter is removed computer powers down and nks twill not restart without adapter. System reports 86% charge.
What I have done: removed/reinstalled battery; reinstalled last known good image of Vista/machine configuration; reinstalled drivers. NO JOY.
What do you all think? Do I need to replace the battery (will Toshiba replace it)? Is there something else I can try to get it running again?
Thanks to all comers.
Cheers,
mivvy

Thanks to everyone who took a look.
Looks like I will be purchasing a new battery. Given the usage history of the battery, it is a huge surprise for me. I. will double-check connections and voltages to make sure my surge protector and the adapter are working properly
Has anyone had a similar problem of SUDDEN and unexpected failure?
Cheers,
mivvy
