Re: No Power, No Lights

I have no clue myself because the computer was left at the store good physical condition (I took pictures before!). As soon as I can take pictures I will be more than happy to post them for you to see here.

Defender,

Apparantly RadioShack had taken pictures and e-mailed them to the warranty provide who determined physical damage to the RAM slot based on it "looked strange" when they viewd the photos on the computer. I contacted Toshiba, they gave a local authorized repair center and suggested I take to them to do a diagnosis and determine whether or not this unit is physically damaged or not.

Re: No Power, No Lights

Hi,

I've had my laptop for only 2 months and had the same thing happen - no lights, no power, no nothing - it just stopped working.   I took it back to Best Buy where I purchased it - but I only had the accidental damage, etc. so they told me to contact Toshiba.  I do not have a repair place nearby - so shipped the computer out on 8-27.  Toshiba has received it, and they have it in repair:

Aug 2 - Repair In Process | SO#: T1-LQB3GS | "DIAG - NO POWER - REPLACE SB"

It has been on hold for 2 days - as shown below...

Aug 4 - On Hold - Parts | SO#: T1-LQB3GS | "605D"

I am hoping it gets fixed and back soon - but with the holiday weekend, not looking like it will be for awhile.  They said 7 - -10 days from door to door is usual - guess I'm not usual.  wish I knew what the heck what is really happening.

Re: No Power, No Lights

Cape,

These warranties seem like headache, I thought best buys accidental warranty was an upgrade to their standard one. I'm stuck in the middle right now between two companies pointing fingers at the other. Keep me posted on your repair and what had to get done to it. is it an A215-S5822 aswell?

Defender

This is the "damage" they claim they will not honor my coverage for.. I'm not surprised if you ask "what damage" ?

Re: No Power, No Lights

Capegirl...NO POWER - REPLACE SB"  in the range of part related to battery assembly.  As for time element is often 7-10 business days, weekends/holidays, no ship days are excluded from time. Yes, since they need to get a part it will add to processing return time element.  Your tracking, under warranty, sit back and know no cost to you.

Re: No Power, No Lights

Defender,

This is the memory area,

Here is a photo of my computer before sending out. Note the memory under the door

This was my photo taken a few days before drop off. I noticed in one of their photos, the screw that is under the battery is missing, it appears they already began opening this unit up. I am just curious as to why there are no pictures of the entire computer, wouldnt a repair center take photographs prior to doing work to show the entire unit?

QUERY: I am just curious as to why there are no pictures of the entire computer, wouldnt a repair center take photographs prior to doing work to show the entire unit?

RESPONSE: Each repair facility has their own warranty guidelines to follow on claim issues. So they sent it out for claim review from their LLC provider to review.  Cannot offer a more positive suggestion other then to ask them about missing screw in housing, and what determination lead them to believe the term ''damage'' applies to. It is often easy to determine damage-scratches,split in plastic clips missing/bent, etc.  Toshiba's recommendation to take to their Service Center is a valid ''take me up offer I would definitely consider doing''.

Re: No Power, No Lights

Well as mentioned I will pick up my unit on Tuesday, take photographs of it in the store, note damages, and from that point take it to SarCom near Indianapolis where Toshiba suggested I go. Hopefully light will be shed on this technical matter and this warranty issue (so those that fall in the same scenario) can refer to this posting at least and known steps which to take.

Have already gotten letter (several pages, photographs, reciepts, emails) ready to be sent to the Assurant Resolution Team (as per request of Assurant themselves). Apparantly this is not the first time this has come up with RadioShack and their repair center, its happened many other times before the assurant techs tell me and they always end up escalating these cases to higher staff members.

Thanks for the information once again, As always will keep you posted in a few days!
