My Satellite M305D-S4829 gets hot all the time. Really hot. I removed the battery, thinking that it was the overheating origin. But it continues being hot. Sure, this is not normal. What should I do? The laptop was bought less than a year ago through Circuit City which went out of business. How should I proceed to make a claim?

It is normal for laptops to get quit warm. Do you have any other symptoms other then that?
You could try to vacuum the vents as maybe there is too much dust inside and it is not getting good airflow to cool itself.

Thanks Techman. Warming is ok for any laptop, I agree. But not that hot. I have another Satellite and it works acceptably warm compared to the one mentioned. Yes, another critical symptom is that the laptop goes off after a while when it is too hot, it runs hot till power gets off. I have seen that if it is on a high surface - on top of something giving a clearance underneath- let it run longer, but still too hot.
I'll vacuum the ventilation grid. But, as I said, since very new, has been running as described.
I'm afraid that if continues like this, will get permanent/serious damage.

Well, if it gets hot, turns off and won't power back on until it cools, then it sounds like a hardware issue. You should have a one year warranty. Use the repair link at the top of the page to find a service center.
