Satellite p105 s6177 power cord issues

I hope there's a simple solution for this problem. My laptop is no longer under warranty. I have not dropped or abused it in any way. The first power cord simply failed so I replaced it. That worked for a while.

Now when plugged in, the power source toggles back and forth between battery/AC, and to get it to stay on AC, I have to stop what I'm doing and fiddle with the connection. Eventually, twisting it usually restores it to AC but I'm worried that this will also fail.

I found a work-around here:
http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/05/27/failed-laptop-power-jack-workaround/ but it's quite technical and more than I want to tackle.

Please let me know if there is another solution.

Thanks!

That was interesting about the self repair, BUT, caution routing wiring near the exhaust port area highly dangerous[for a lack of better word here].  Agree the soder effect has to be contained, caution here also. I would recommend getting in touch at www.toshiba.com customer service and explain your AC -toggle and learn if there is a better power adapter available or a recall fix that can be achieved.
