Whenever I have had my Satellite L355D (Windows Vista) turned off and then turn it back on using only battery power, I'm unable to open any folders or connect to any network. The programs that usually auto-start with Windows don't start. Eventually, I'll get a "Windows Explorer is not responding" message giving me the option to wait, restart the program, or shut down the program. This only happens under battery power when the unit has been powered on using only battery power. The charge on the batteries has varied from 100% to about 75% when I've experienced this.
What I've tried so far that hasn't worked:
-letting the computer start up for longer times, up to 15 minutes, ideally to make sure everything is starting up properly and I'm not overloading the memory with processes before it's fully up and running.
-restarting the computer.
-powering down and powering up the computer with up to 15 minutes between cycles.
-begging, pleading and cursing at the computer.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

Many issues could be causing this to occour. Go into START/RUN and type in eventvwr.msc, then click OK, from there when the window opens look for Systems Log, click open and check for any ''error!'' indicators, click those open and it will discribe the rrro and a potential solution. Post here so we can assist further.
Did you install Service Pack 1 recently or any devices/software which could hang up the unit? If so uninstall and see if that correct the issue.
You describe 15 minutes to startup is not normal. Can you furnish the entire L355D series numbers to better review the unit specs?
Also, you could utilize the Recovery Disk and do a ''repair function'' to see if the issue is cleared.
