I an a newbie to laptops in general. I want to take my Toshiba to Denmark. How do I keep the battery charged? Do I simply use a converter plug? what about power surging? My hairdryer has a switch to change from AC to DC--anything on the laptop to switch? Don't want to fry the thing on the first day!

Your notebook's power adapter is a univeral type. If you look at the label, you will see that it is rated for 100-240 volts, 50-60 hertz. This means that all you will need is a simple plug adapter. On a trip to Italy I picked one up at a local bottega for about a Euro and a half. That compared with the airport shop in Newark that wanted $60 for a set of worldwide adapters in a nice carrying case. You shouldn't have any trouble surges or line anomalies in Europe.
