Need A100-ST1041 Driver Help

I am helping a fellow teacher fix her kids laptop that she bugged up, and am having trouble getting all the drivers working.

She has a toshiba satellite A100-ST1041 part # PSAA5U.

The laptop had XP on it so I reinstalled XP but she cant find any recovery or toshiba disks for drivers.  I have gone through all the drivers on toshibas website and and I still have the following errors in device manager.

Ethernet Controller

Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus

SM Bus Controller

Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

The etherent works plugged in but no wireless.  I tried intel and atheros wirless drivers although I think the spec sheet I found said this computer has atheros.  Still didnt work.

The bios drivers listed under this model would not even work.  I wonder if this is a different chipset then what toshiba's site thinks it is.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: Need A100-ST1041 Driver Help

Is this the complete part number?  PSAA5U-02300Q

When the SM Bus Driver isn't installed it normally indicates that you didn't install the drivers in the correct order.  I would install XP again and this time install the drivers in THIS order.

--------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------

Install your drivers in this order.
Restart after each driver and take the time to test between drivers.
Some will apply and some won't.

Chipset software
Display driver
Sound driver
Modem Driver
If your machine has the internal WiFi card, then install the WLAN and/or WiFi driver
ACPI Common Modules (required for Power management tools to function)
Toshiba Console
Display Hotkey utility
Touchpad Driver
Touchpad enable/disable utility
Toshiba Network Device Switch utility
Toshiba Power Saver Utility
Toshiba Controls
Toshiba Utilities

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Need A100-ST1041 Driver Help

The model # is PSAA5U-02300Q.

Reinstalling in that order is worth a shot.  I dont see a chipset driver listed on toshibas site under this model #. These are the drivers listed under Xp:

Security Utility

Toshiba Utility - Battery Check

Lan - Intel PRO

Driver Wi-Fi - Intel 802.11 a/b/g

Driver Sound - Realtek

User Guide/Addenda

Display Driver - nVidia

The website is missing the

Chipset, Toshiba Console, Touchpads, Network Device Switch, Power Saver Utility and Toshiba Controls.

When I remove the XP option and view all OSs I still dont see a chipset for vista or anything else.  Is there another location for these drivers?

Re: Need A100-ST1041 Driver Help

Try the drivers for the A105-S2141.  That belongs to the PSAA5U family so it uses same basic chipsets and they should be interchangeable.

The drivers for the A105-S2141 worked great!  Up and running and can return her computer tomorrow.

Thanks for your help!
