Need Kernel Driver - 4th request

[ Edited ]

Please help with the errors that I asked about on Oct 24, 2009. I am cutting and pasting the detail again here:

Model: Satellite M205-S4805

32 bit operating System

Windows Vista Home Premium (2007)

with Service Pack 2 update installed

I found and updated the Marvel Miniport driver, however I am having problems with the the following Toshiba Device Driver

  • TosSec Class
  • Manufacturer: Toshiba
  • Driver is dated 10/26/2006 with Toshiba Copyright 2000 - 2007, version 4.0.2006.1026
  • Error warning event log:

Log Name:      Microsoft-Windows-CodeIntegrity/Operational
Source:        Microsoft-Windows-CodeIntegrity
Date:          10/24/2009 12:28:04 AM
Event ID:      3001
Task Category: (1)
Level:         Warning
Description:
Code Integrity determined an unsigned kernel module system32\DRIVERS\tos_sps32.sys is loaded into the system. Check with the publisher to see if a signed version of the kernel module is available.

  <EventData>
    <Data Name="FileNameLength">31</Data>
    <Data Name="FileNameBuffer">system32\DRIVERS\tos_sps32.sys</Data>
  </EventData>

Additionally I have a missing driver for the Symantec Crimeware Protection Driver. The properties show a problem code of 00000018, or Dev node status value: 01803401, however I am not sure if that will make sense to you.  This is a legacy driver with the service name: CWMonitor under non plug and play drivers.  I do not know what happened to this driver, but it is not in my computer that I can see.  If someone can refer me to the proper place to obtain both of these drivers, then that would be wonderful.

Thank you for your feedback.

I am having problems with the the following Toshiba Device Driver..

Okay, I'll bite. What's the fuss? Why are you shouting?

You didn't tell us a problem. If there's something that doesn't work right, tell us about it. Event Viewer is full of unnecessary warnings. Most users don't even know about it.

You say you reinstalled this driver?

Take the Symantec question over to their forums.

Re: Need Kernel Driver - 4th request

Hi Jerry. Thanks for your reply.

Did you see the Toshiba device driver that I asked for updating? See below & prior thread.

Toshiba Device Driver

  • TosSec Class
  • Manufacturer: Toshiba, Path on my pc is  C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\tos_sps32.sys
  • Driver is dated 10/26/2006 with Toshiba Copyright 2000 - 2007, version 4.0.2006.1026

The symantec issue is the 2nd driver that is needed, which was installed on my Toshiba M205-S4805 from the date of purchase. Is that not a toshiba support need?

No shouting before nor here. Just some colored big font on my 4th attempt at help. Let's be civil, please. I would greatly appreciate feedback, especially from a Super Contributor with more knowledge. If the event viewer is simply b.s., then I can take that feedback...Or if updated driver available, awesome.

Thanks so much.

Montima  ... sorry if my sense of humor is not amusing.

Re: Need Kernel Driver - 4th request

It's not uncommon for legitimate drivers to be unsigned. Whether Toshiba will get the driver signed or change it is unknown to me. It's certainly not necessary.

You can read about this new code-integrity business here. It was not present in Windows XP.

Code Integrity Diagnostic System Log Events

   Code Integrity Event Log Messages

Enabling the System Event Audit Log

I suppose you could disable logging if you don't want to see messages like that.

I find Event Viewer to be sometimes helpful for clues when something goes wrong. Unless I'm looking for solutions to a particular problem, I ignore it.

I don't know anything about Symantec's Crimeware Protection.
