Ok, thanks I did exacly what you suggested. I'm home now i'll start it over. I'm looking at it right now, with the same message in the last line: Loading DFT ...
Do you think that this message signals a good sign or hope that the problem might not be a major one?

Too soon to tell. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
If you don't bother to post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

When I came home yesterday around 5:30, I started the process. The last line was :"Loading DFT..." I left it on the whole night. Now, its Saturday 8:30 in the morning it's the same thing again.
I know that you said it might take hours, but do you think that it's doing something after more than 12 hours straight?

That screen shouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish. It's the actual diagnosis that takes a long time and it can't even get that far. If you have another system handy you should verify that the Diagnostic CD that you just created is working properly by booting to it on it. You don't need to run the diagnostic, just see if it gets past that Loading DFT screen. If it doesn't then the CD wasn't burned properly. If it does then I'm 99.9999% certain that the hard drive is damaged. You'll need to replace it.

Oh nan, You;re doing great with me. So far, everything that you say goes exactly the same way that you said it. To tell you the truth, I really appreciate your help.
So, like you told me to, I just tried to boot another computer with the CD to and it went smooth. I guess the had drive is really bad. But, if I buy it, will it be difficult for me to replace it or is there anything else that I should be carefull with or worry about if I try to replace it myself?

This is for the A205, but it should give you an idea of what is involved. I hope you created your Recovery Disks for that system already as you won't be able to do so now. If you haven't created them go to this page to find out how to do so.
I would recommend a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 2.5" Laptop Internal SATA hard drive. They are reasonably priced, provide good performance, and are as reliable as any and more so than most. You can pick one up at places like Best Buy or other Computer Stores if you are in a hurry or you can save some money by ordering one from places like Newegg or ZipZoomFly.
