Hi I have installed windows xp proff Toshiba u400 10N PSU40E with SATA support using nLite.
installed drivers downloaded from toshiba and intel driver pages.
Everything works fine except my wifi connection.
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
Everest sees it but it is not in device manager and other intel driver setups not working just.
When i clicking on exe it just won't open.
Also Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 6 - 2849 is marked in device manager.
Intel® Wireless LAN Identification Utility
says that
"Wireless LAN Hardware and Driver Version:Wireless LAN Hardware not detected.
Possible Causes:
No Wireless LAN hardware is installed.
The Wireless LAN hardware installed cannot be detected by this utility."
tried these driver setups.
XPDriver12.4.0.21.1.x32_wCAT
wlan-intel-3495-4965-v1240211-xp
ICS_Dx32.exe

Check your owners manual to see if you need to turn the WIFI on. I know my L305-S5933 has a switch in the front to turn it off and on and some models used the Function Keys to turn the Wifi on and off.

XPDriver12.4.0.21.1.x32_wCAT
This one should work.
Intel Wireless Lan Driver for Windows XP, 12.4.0.21.1/9.0.4.39, 03/07/09
wlan-intel-3495-4965-v1240211-xp.zip

i have already downloaded these files.
When i click on Setup.exe inside XPDriver12.4.0.21.1.x32_wCAT
it just does not starts. Onyl see clock on mouse then after seconds it dissappears.
I think there is a conflict with wireless.
when i click on iProDifX.exe inside XPDrv folder under XPDriver12.4.0.21.1.x32_wCAT
opens a dialog panel Now performing driver installation then it dissappears too.

Use the zip file from my source instead. Decompress wlan-intel-3495-4965-v1240211-xp.zip into an empty folder.
If Setup.exe does not work properly, then try running it from Safe Mode (where the VGA driver is in use).
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
If that doesn't work either, install from Device Manager as follows.
Boot into Safe Mode, go to Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), expand Display adapters, right-click on the display device, and click Update Driver.
Guide the Hardware Update Wizard to the w29n51.inf file in the ..\XPDriver12.4.0.21.1.x32_wCAT\XPDrv folder.

Try it this way. Install Windows and before anything else install the following Intel software in this order.
Storage Manager
Chip Set Utility
Display Driver
Then try the Wireless LAN Driver before SP3.
All the Toshiba drivers and utilities are here.

Try it without Service Pack 3. There are a lot of WiFi issues with XP SP3. Try it with SP2 and see if that helps.
