how do you get a driver for a com port that the commputer does not have

Have a P35-s6112  no comm ports installed

need a com port for a wheather station (need com 3)

can use a usb

when i plug in the usb i get nothing on task manager, should a port come up at this time ??  and than all i do is rename it to com 3.

Never had this problem before

Sounds like you need a serial port. Probably a PC Card Serial Adapter would work best.
