There are thousands of laptops that get stolen annually. To make sure that it is not a stolen laptop, the Toshiba service places demand that you show some documentation proving its yours. One way to do that is to register your computer. In that way you can prove your ownership without having the reciept. The Toshiba techs can access the Registered Computer database and verify that the person at the counter is the legitimate owner even without a receipt.

Did you use a credit card? Maybe the credit card company would have the invoice for your computer, along with the serial number of the computer. Or what about the dealer that sold the computer? Maybe they have a record of the sale, along with the serial nrumber of the computer.

Just think if your computer had been stolen. You wouldn't want a Toshiba tech to remove the Bios password on your computer just because the thief had "forgotten" the password?

I can't help you. The only people that can remove a Bios password are Toshiba Authorized Service Providers. They have the tools needed to remove a Bios password.

You can't do it at home.  As Gord stated you'll need to have it repaired by a Toshiba Authorized Service Center and they probably will require proof of ownership to do so.  You can ask here all you want, but that is what everyone is going to tell you.  The fact that he was drunk and that he can't find his receipt is his problem.

If you don't bother to post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

No reputable Authorized Service Provider is going to remove a Bios password without verifying that you are the real owner of the computer. You have a heart wrenching story, but how does the Toshiba tech know that you aren't a thief that stole the computer? If your friend had registered the computer with Toshiba, this problem would not be happening. One other thing, Bios password removal is not covered under warranty.
