Hi,
I purchased this laptop in September and have tried several things to solve the problem so let me start at the beginning. The hardware I love 18.4 inch display, memory, disk space, ports and Keyboard. OS being Vista Premium 64 bit no good.
1. I loaded windows 7 enterprise and love it but out of no where even just at idle the CPU's pin at 100% and any usb connect pointing device dies. I hate touchpads. This can happen on a cool boot, after an hour or several hours.
2. I load Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit and all worked fine but no wireless (expected) however freeze problem gone ran 36 hours no problem. But like many people still need to run windows.
3. Since some of my window apps will not run under windows 7 I said lets try windows XP 64bit. Many windows XP drivers not available and problem returned. (not happy)
4. Try windows XP 32 bit pretty much the same thing as 64bit.
5 New fresh install of windows 7 enterprise used the toshiba installer from support downloads. Went smooth device manager looks happy but problem returned.
One bad thing I did however is removed the recovery partition from the hard drive. But I do not want Vista on this laptop anyway.
The Laptop has AMD Turion X2 64 R74 processor, 4Gigs of ram, 320Gig HD, Ati HD3200 Graphics.
In the BIOS changed dynamic to low speed on the processor (no help) Also changed Esata from ACHI to Compatibility (no help)
Not sure what it is and why only windows. If it was hardware I would expect it to happen under Ubuntu.
Love the machine would love to keep it but I use computers a lot for both my job and hobbies it must work.
Thanks ahead of time for all who can help.

Are you willing to troubleshoot in the original Vista Home Premium 64-bit?
