What is the procedure of upgrading to 2 Gb RAM on this unit? Is it a difficult procedure, or can I do it myself? How would this upgrade affect the warranry?

You can do it yourself. There is no effect on the warranty.
There is only a single memory slot in this computer. So you will need to replace the existing module with 2 GB. Get the best Kingston memory.
