can't view dvd's

I have a tecra 8100 that I purchased from a friend used. The problem I'm having is that I can't watch DVD's. There is no video driver installed, but there is CD-rom drive. I have windows XP currently installed and I have all the installation disks. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get my laptop to play DVD's.

If you have a CD Rom drive you will not be able you watch DVD's. You will have to get a DVD drive in order to watch them.

You'll need not only a DVD drive, but to watch commercial DVD videos you need to install a decoder.
