satellite l500 webcam wont work !!!

just bought a brand new satellite l500 with windows 7, got it home and its fantastic, then about 5 mins after the shop shut realised webcam wont work ??? everytime i turn on the laptop i get this message - webcam initialization failed, please check your camera device and restart or restart computer .  - restarted computer nothign works and everytime i go onto webcam to restart it i get this message and cant restart it !!! HELP PLEASE , CANT BE BOTHERED TO TAKE IT BACK !!!

Go into device manager, unistall the camera, then reboot the system to have Windows automatically re-install it.  That is the usual fix.  If it doesn't you'll need to do a complete recovery of your system to it's out of box state or calL Toshiba Technical Support on the phone.

thyanks for the help however when i go into device manager there is no listed webcam only 1 unknown device with a yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation mark in it and dont think i can run restore as it been like this since the first time i turned it on ?

I bought a brand new L450 laptop yesterday to use for videoconferences , because I cant use my mac for a certain software..

 

after the second time I started the laptop I got the same problem as you.. Everytime I start up I get the notice "webcam initialization failed, please check your camera device and restart or restart computer"

 

Reinstalled windows 4 times now.. the first time it actually seemed to work.. but not for long.. now I get the message every time..

 

Hope someone here has a solution for this.

Get a mac! You don't ever have to set anything up! it's all donw for you and the webcam works amazingly well!

Bull $h%*.  They have just as many configuration problems as any other computer and have considerably fewer options when it comes to software.

Not recently, but I work on a LOT of them.  That's why I made the statement.
