I have an A505-S6965.  As of about two weeks ago my keyboard backlighting is not working at all.  I have checked the settings and confirmed that it is set so that Fn+Z toggles the status.  However, doing this has no effect.  Interestingly, when Vista first boots, the keyboard is backlit at the logon screen.

Also -- and this may be related to the problem -- when I press "Fn", the "popup" that used to appear at the top of the screen no longer appears.  This popup used to show what each function key did and would stay up as long as the Fn key was held down.  Now it's completely gone.

Any thoughts?
