Function keys on Satellite A205-S5825 stopped working

I can use the flash cards with the mouse but the functions keys stopped working. They did work but have stopped. I uninstalled and reinstalled the value pak and the function key utility from tech support but the function keys do not work. Running Vista home premium 32 bit.
Any suggestions?
