Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

Having installed both the updated BIOS and updated Alps driver, I have no problems with the touchpad whatsoever.  I am now completely satisfied with my NB205. :smileyhappy:

Thanks Toshiba.

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

I'm the original poster of this topic. The driver which was posted to the downloads section on the 20th has fixed both the stuttering and freezing issue I was having with my trackpad.

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

Hi ! I face the same problems as dozens of other users have reported. On seeing that there was a new Alps driver download, i followed the instructions , downloaded the new driver, uninstalled the older Alps driver, re-started the computer and tried un-zipping the driver as per the instructions given. However, it failed to unzip as there was an error which said : Zip damaged :file c:\temp.alps\V132\DPInst.exe: Bad CRC e547dab1 (should be 102c501d) Possible cause : file transfer error  .I tried the same exercise 3 times with the same result. Now I am stuck without any Alps drivers in my computer as well as the unsolved problems of un-responsive touch-pad and a jumping cursor which has jumped at least 5 times while writing this note.....PLEASE HELP ! This way my new netbook is quite unusable.

Please do reply with a solution. Thanks

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

I just downloaded the driver and unzipped it with no errors.

Is this the file you downloaded?  [ http://df.toshiba.com/driver_touchpad_alps_os2009307a.exe ]

If not, I believe that is the one you want.  If that is the same one you already used, try deleting the c:\temp.alps folder and starting over from scratch, since it is sure that there is no problem with the file on the server.

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

After updating my Alps driver from the Toshiba website, I no longer have the program that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the Touchpad and adjust it's functions.  Is there a place to find the Alps settings program?  It just appears as a mouse now.  I have a NB205-325BL

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

I bought mine in past July and I have been battling with this touchpad issue ever since. I was thinking that it was a hardware issue first and that I would have to send my unit in for service. I use this unit alot and sending it in for a service would be very difficult for me. I now see that there is a software solution to this. I haven't tried it yet but I am hoping this will fix this issue I have with this unit. I have another major issue with this laptop(draining battery) and I will go see what Toshiba did for that problem...

I am too surprised that it took Toshiba ages to address this issue. No matter how prefectly they fixed it, it is not acceptable to me the fact that they knew the issue for weeks(or months) and did not bother warning the buyers/owners.

I would expect better from Toshiba...

So its November, has there been a fix for this problem?  It is horribly annoying.

Re: NB205-N311/W Touchpad Issues

I'm not generally a forum poster, but the inoperable nature of my netbook led me here.

I'm experiencing the same issues as Henrik. In fact, the keyboard of my NB205 renders the whole thing unusuable.

I do not use the trackpad (I prefer a mouse) so those issues didn't really affect me. However, since some people on this forum suggested the cursor jumping as related to inadvertently hitting the trackpad, I followed the directions to disable tapping. However, my cursor still jumps after every two letters.

For the first ten minutes or so the laptop is on, it functions fine. However, after that, it becomes impossible to type. I held my hands high off the laptop and pecked out "This is a typing test" trying to ensure I didn't inadvertently hit any keys. It took me 8 attempts to get through those five words. After every two letters, the cursor jumped back to the left, to the beginning of the line.

In a later post, Henrik mentioned the bios updates rectified his issues. So I'll try the same route. If that doesn't work, I'll have to return my NB205 as it is simply unusable right now.
