I have reinstalled XP from the recovery disc I made. I started to install the utilities from the "apps and drivers" disc, but was getting uninstall messages so I quit.
Some Fn keys work: esc (mute), F6 & F7 (screen brightness), F9 (touchpad), F10 (keypad cursor control), F11 (numlock), and 3 & 4 (volume).
Keys that do not work: F1 (blank display), F2 (power profiles), F3 (standby), F4 (hibernation), F5 (display), and F8 (wireless enable/disable).
Unknown: 1 & 2 (zoom out/in) and F12 (scroll lock).
I have (re)installed the Toshiba Components Common Driver and Toshiba Hotkey Utility to no effect.
How do I recover the use of the keys that don't work?
Second problem: I thought reinstalling Fn-esse might help. Bad move. When I uninstalled it, I got a prompt to reboot *before* the uninstall was finished. No indication other than a very occasional disk light blink that anything was happining. I clicked on Reboot, and during shutdown a window flashed by indicating some DLL was interrupted.
Now, when I try to install Fn-esse again, I'm told that the uninstall was not completed and I need to reboot. That was about 5 cold-starts ago. How do I complete the uninstall so I can get Fn-esse installed again?
TIA
Jim
