Tecra M9 - Function Key to increase / reduce brightness

i have Toshiba Tecra M9 laptop, which came with windows vista operating system.
recently i formated this laptop and agreed to install windows xp as i have valid license for windows xp.
i have installed device drivers manually one by one downloading from www.toshibadirect.com
but i was unable to get application / software to enable function key of my laptop.
now i am unable to minimise / maximise display brightness, not able to mute /on speaker using function key.
kinldy help to get solution for this.
