jumpy cursor

I have the x305-711. Generally a good machine.

There are times when the cursor jumps to a different part of the text when typing.

Seems to happen far more with this toshiba than the others I have owned.

Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

Re: jumpy cursor

I am having similar keyboard issues on a mini NB205.  The cursor jumps while I am typing.  Any advice?

Re: jumpy cursor

I was having a terrible time with the jumpy cursor issue. I'm a writer and it was driving me crazy. I couldn't just type, I had to watch the screen all the time to make sure the cursor hadn't jumped into the middle of some word.

First I turned off all those shortcut keys, like the series keys that when you hit them all they send your cursor off.  But that didn't help. (Pulling hair out!)

So, I turned off my touchpad. I have an HP wireless mouse so I really don't need it. That seems to have fixed my jumpy cursor problem. Only did it about an hour ago, so I'm not sure this is the fix. But it seems to be. Go To:

My Computer - Control Panel - Mouse  on the properties the last tab is "Touchpad On/Off". Turn it off and see if it fixes your problem.

If you use the touchpad, I believe that if you turn the sensitivity all the way down, it might fix the problem. I think we're hitting the touchpad as we type and that is send the cursor off.

Re: jumpy cursor

Oh, I'm using an NB 205 Toshiba notebook. Love it now. Hated it before I fixed the cursor issue.

Re: jumpy cursor

Jumping cursors while typing are virtually always due to having Tapping turned on for the touchpad.

Re: jumpy cursor

Aelle, how did you fix the cursor issue.  I'm  having a problem when typing.  When I tap a key, it jumps me all over the place.  In the body of an e-mail or letter, I sometimes get sent all the way to the beginning & I've been careful as to keep my hands raised so I don't accidentally brush the mouse pad, etc.  Any advise you could offer would be fantastic.  Thank you.  (I have the NB205 Netbook-Toshiba)

Re: jumpy cursor

Thanks for the information about the disabling the touchpad.  I was about ready to send this netbook flying.  Thngs were jumping all over the place and things I had typed were being deleted.  Very difficult when you are used to just typing and not watching what you type.   But disabling the touchpad seems to work.  Thank Goodness!!  Now we'll see if I can put the nightmare of the touchpad behind me and begin to enjoy this netbook!
