touch pad zoom problem solved

I have figured out how to stop the zooming (yes!!) - click on the synaptics pointing device icon in the taskbar and go to device settings - go to settings - then open up the options under "advanced gestures" and go to "pinch" - this is what you want to disable.  The Synaptics people design the touchpad to zoom only when you "pinch" on the touchpad, but most of us experience the zooming without pinching - this will end it.  Hope it works for all of you like it has me!

Re: touch pad zoom problem solved

Thanks so much for this tip -- the zoom thing has been driving me nuts.  I've disabled the "pinch" and hope that does the trick.

Re: touch pad zoom problem solved

Thanks for your solution!  After following your instructions, I decided to try and adjust the sensitivity and see if that would solve the problem...and it has!  Now I can still pinch if I want to but it does not do it when i have just one finger on the touchpad as it did so unpredictably before I made that adjustment.  But, if it acts up again, I know I can turn pinch off...thanks!

Re: touch pad zoom problem solved

Appreciate your posting the tip, hope it helps those that need it? Just be sure to check the Synaptics pad installed for the 'pinch' feature.

God bless you, well and truly, champ. :smileyhappy:

Re: touch pad zoom problem solved

Thank you so much.  I just got my laptop today and the whole mouse touchpad is killing me.  I had an older Satellite with the black rubber pad.  A simple google search brought up this post.

Now to tweak a few more things and somehow I imagine they will all have to be done through the same area.

Didn't help me at all.....

I have an Satelight A505 w/windows 7.

I click the snapticx box and only have the options to go to "Pointing Device properties".

Once there...there isnt a trace of the wording used in your description. I cant disable the "Zoom" because that phrase or option doesnt exist in the 7 tabs of the properties.

In fact there is nothing about Zoom disableing it...at all

really to the point of smashing this thing with a hammer right now...

I see the word Pinch - not Zoom

go to settings - then open up the options under "advanced gestures" and go to "pinch" - this is what you want to disable.
