New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

I have a new Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 that came with Windows 7 (64 bit) and a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC.  This wireless card does not see the N-band from my NETGEAR - RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless-N Router.  It only sees the G-band.  It is easy to tell on this router because you give each band a different name.  A Toshiba laptop purchased this summer 2009 running Windows Vista sees and connects to both bands perfectly.  I can only see and connect to the G-band with the new laptop.  Tried new drivers.  Toshiba tech support level 2 never calls me back.

Re: New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

Experiencing the same problem with a fairly new Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 with the REALTEK RTL8191SE WIRELESS LAN 802.11n NIC draft-n wireless adapter.  I have a netgear wndr3300 rangemax dual-band wireless-n router.  Also have an HP computer with intel wireless-n card...  The toshiba will simply not find the 5 GHz band... However, the HP will...  Starting to think it is a problem with the realtek wireless card...

Only other possibility is that the HP is running Windows Vista... Whereas the Toshiba is running Windows 7...

Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be???   I would really like to connect my Toshiba to the N-band on my router....

Thanks

Re: New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

My laptop isn't this one, but i also had the same problem where it wouldn't recognize the wireless-N,

So i just reformatted my computer, And after that, it started to connect using the Wireless-N

Although reformatting did not fix my other problem which is some other problem with my wireless adapter where it has a terrible connection Range. (windows 7, 64bit, RTL8191se)

Re: New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

I am experiencing the same problem with my A505-S6981 and NetGear WNHDE111 router/bridge. I have tried the updated RealTek driver through Windows 7 updates, but the problem remains. I am unable to see my NetGear's SSID, even though it is visible by my other laptop.

Has anybody reached a solution?

Re: New Toshiba Satellite A505-S6991 does not recognize 5.0GHz Wireless-N

I have the same problem.  I  have a Satellit A505 - S6033 with a Netgear WNDR3300.  It is pretty sad the my 4 year old "bottom of the line" laptop connects at faster speeds than this one. I usually only get 12mbps on my Toshiba.  At this point I have it connected into a  lan cable when I am using the internet.  Not even sure a differnt router would help.  SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!

I just got a Toshiba Satellite A505-s6005. Burned 200ish on a dual-band linksys 610n router.

Still only getting the 2.4ghz signal to show it's face.

Hey guys according to Realtek's site the RTL8191SE appears to only support 2.4 Ghz. Here is the link: http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=...
