I had previously explained this peculiar problem on this forum and got answers ( at this forum by jerry and also contacted toshiba india , toshiba portugal and everyone i could) but now i am making this last effort as i have sort of resigned myself to this problem..
i again explain the problem..
the laptop shows that it is connected to the net
but i can not browse the net..
on clicking at site it just says waiting for response and does nothing..(this thing happens all of a sudden, I mean after a successful browsing for whole day or days may be)..
surprisingly i can see that the network is connected and that i can view all the computers that are connected to the local net..
i have tried everything from putting ipv 4 on and off, removing the power saving option of the driver, updating driver and now reinstalling the driver..
the system details once again.. satellite L500 D 6310, Windows Vista home premium, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB hard disk, intel wireless lan driver, and of course make " TOSHIBA"..
I have reinstalled the wireless driver and to my surprise problem persists..( in fact i have now noted that this problem occurs with even the wired network connection)...
the problem has been occuring regularly..and their is no suuport..even in warranty..( less than two months purchase..)..
can someone tell me where to approach for getting this sorted out using warranty ( international)that this laptop has..all i have is this forum..wish i could have some real expert to sort this problem out..
I curse myself for buying a TOSHIBA..
I had a hp laptop for one year and not a single problem..
I request you people to resolve the issue once for all..
suggest something now and not after 2 months...

Hi Good Day,
Kindly check for recent update for IE8 under installed updates for programs and features of control panel, resetting internet explorer settings under advanced tab of internet options or disabling your security software. Hope that helps and works.

Sometimes a laptop will say it's connected, but it's connected to an Unidentified Network...
Check Network and Center for the status connection (I'm assuming the OS here is either Vista or 7).
You can also ping a website to isolate if it's an IE problem or a connection problem.
To ping a website: Click on start, and type "cmd" on Start Search or Search Programs and files.
In the command prompt, type there ping www.google.com or www.toshiba.com. If it receives packets, then it's possibly an IE error. Try a chat program or another browser to see if it works. If it doesn't, then the connection is the cause of concern, and we'll have to troubleshoot that further.

I am having this same exact probelm with toshiba l505s5990. works fine for days at a time, then says it can't find internet, even though it is connected with strong signal strength and even though another laptop in house works fine. This is extremely frustrating and I want toshiba or microsoft to provide a fix ASAP-a number of friends are having same issue

If the following are true:
1. In network and sharing center, it shows that the system is connected to the internet.
(There should be no X mark or Triangle or Exclamation point on the picture of the connection)
2. You have tried to ping a website in the command prompt and you are getting 4 replies from the website.
Try to check windows updates.
Look for these updates in View Installed Updates that you can find in the Programs and Features (bottom left):
KB963027 and KB969897, AND KB972260 (NEW)
source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963027
If you find any of these or all of them, "Uninstall" those updates.
If you don't see any of those, check the version of your IE, if it's version 8 revert it back to version 7.
If after reverting it to IE 7 or you are using IE 7 already but you're experiencing the same problem, then the system might be infected with a spyware.
you can try this:
Go to safe mode (keep tapping F8 when you turn the computer ON)
In this directory \\Windows\System32\ look for MSXMLM.DLL & NETFILTER.EXE
If you find them delete both of them.
And this one C:\Program Files\Personal AV, if you find it then make sure to delete that.
Hope it helps ![]()
