I just got my new Qosmio X505 Q850 laptop on Friday 10/30/09, I'm so dissapointed in the Wi-Fi connection.  It only works when I'm next to the Router. I own 4 other laptops they get excellent connection in every room. This Qosmio X505 must have a bad Wi-Fi card, Help!  Should I return this computer because this is not acceptable I will not be a slave to the router (whats the point of a laptop-if I wanted a desktop I would have bought one).Anyone else with this problem, I did call Tech support no luck yet.

it sounds like you may have a bad wifi card or your settings are off. if you've had this problem out of the box then most likely your card is bad. please contact toshiba (1-800-457-7777) to setup your laptop to be returned to the repair depot or bring the laptop to a local ASP (Authorized Service Provider) to have your issue looked at/fixed. good luck.

Do any of the other computers run Windows Vista or 7? If not, It may be a router problem.

In any case, try a different channel.

Tried other channels nothing works. Its not my router it's the poor wi-fi card Toshiba decided to include in this laptop I guess to cut price, which I find odd.  Wi-fi cards don't cost that much, why cripple an other wise good laptop.  Others across the net with same problem.  Yes have other laptop with windows 7 work fine. Its pissing me off that Toshiba won't address this issue.
