I am changing a Satellite L515-S4925 from Vista Home edition to Windows 7 Enterprise.
Update is not possible from Vista Home to 7 Enterprise so I've done a clean install following the toshiba PDF file.
Everything has gone perfectly except the RealTek Wireless RTL 8192 device cannot start. I get a
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error in Device Manager.
Has anyone seen this or has any insights?
Thanks for any and all help.
Steve

What do you know. Another user with problems with the RealTek wireless cards.
Toshiba really needs to post a fix.
Check a bit farther down for others with wireless connectivity issues. Hopefully you can find a solution.

Hi Steve, I wish I had a definitive answer for you, but I am also struggling with the Toshiba Realtek wireless RTL8192 device on my L555D-S7912, which I just upgraded with the Toshiba free "automated" Win7 Premium DVD software they sent me. I had several problems, most of which I resolved myself, with Device Manager still showing an exclamation mark next to WAN miniport (IKEv2). It indicates a driver from 2006, which I imagine is the problem, but there is apparently nothing newer available and it states that windows can not install the driver. You can try going to the realtek website and downloading/installing their latest driver for Windows 7, which I did for myself. It didn't work for helping me, but it MIGHT help your situation. Go to the realtek website and type in RTL8192E in the search box and you will find the availability to download the Windows 7 software. GOOD LUCK!!!!

you need to update drvier on device manager you need to extract windows vista driver and locate RTL folder inside it has 2 foldoers for 64bit x86 for 32 bit and you will be surprised it will accept and make device work.
either use the toshiba built in driver on tosapins folder or download from support.toshiba.com

Hi Doofus,
My specific problem is not a code 10 but a code 31, for the Wan minport (IKEv2) device. The driver shown is from 2006 and it states that Windows can not load the driver. But when I check for an updated driver it says that the best driver (2006) is already loaded. Yeah, right <sigh>. Are you saying that we need to go BACK and load the Windows Vista 64-bit drivers for the Realtek network devices in order to get rid of the Wan minport (IKEv2) problem with code 31???? The Microsoft specialist who answered a similar question about this problem on the Microsoft website said that IF the network card is actually functioning, and you have access to the internet, then just ignore the exclamation mark in Device Manager. This sounds like a cop out to me just because they don't want to address the issue. If Device Manager is clean in Windows Vista x64, then there is no reason why it shouldn't be clean in Windows 7 x64. I have Realtek wireless and wired devices built into my laptop, and it is unclear if this is an error message for both devices, or for just one of them???? Thanks.

I solved my problem.
I went directly to the RealTek site and got their drivers (including their installation setup).
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/searchView.aspx?k
Sorry, I don't recall if I used the RTL8192 E, SU, or U drivers. The first one I tried worked and I didn't look
any further.
They're a couple of months older than toshiba's.
I let the setup run and Viola! problem fixed.

Hi Steve,
AWESOME, and I'm glad you got your problem resolved by going to the Realtek website and downloading their latest drivers. BTW, for anyone having the problem I had mentioned in this thread, with the Wan miniport (IKEv2) Code 31 problem with the Realtek RTL-8192E wireless device, you can read my full fix that I posted in the Windows 7 forum. It took me quite a few hours of puttering and trying/testing, but I DID find a fix for the problem, and my laptop runs fine now in all respects with Win7, and Device Manager is CLEAN! Good luck to all and a Happy Thanksgiving!
