Hey all,

Windows Vista 32 bit

intel  5100 agn wireless card

i have a p300 that is about 3 weeks old. At my home i have 4 networks in range 3 secured and one unsecured. my billion voip router is a b&g router running wep2-psk.

I can connect to the unsecured network(neighbours) at any time no problems. But alas i connot connect to my router at all. It says that it connot connect and send me to a useless help page.

If i change the router to wep-psk key it them allowed me to get on to the router for a while. I then went to work connected to there network(MORE ISSUES), after going in to the adapter properties and telling it it was a wep-psk network I got on.

Return home and now it wont connect to my home network again. Played with the settings managed to get on after ten minutes it dropped my connection and can get on anymore.

The ethernet work all the time perfectly.

NOTE: It is a very crap feature that you connot configure/change the wireless settings when it goes to log you on to the network..if it detecs the wrong authentication configuration you will never connect and cant modify its settings without entering a manual setup.VISTA =(

i have done all the updates i can find, windows and hardware and still no joy.

Do you have any other Vista machines connected to your router?

Hey Jerry,

yes i have a compaq laptop that will instantly connect to the network no matter what encryption i use.

I have since talked to a few toshiba users and a lot of them struggle to swap between networks.

What happens when you set your router to unsecured?

unsecured works fine.

changed the setings to wep2-psk and the password. took a long time but eventually connected with limited access. restarted the laptop and it asked for password again then started working fine.

this is an ok solution if you have access to the router, but at work i dont have access to the router to change the configuration.

is this a vista issue im fighting/ router issue or toshiba connection software issue.

very frustrating

i know it is not the right thread, but im getting strange strange things happen when i type.

eg im at the end of my sentence and it goes back to the middle and continues typing.... could just be me =)

Others report that gets better if you turn off "tapping" for the touchpad in Mouse Properties.
