T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Hey,

I purchased a this T135-S1309 Laptop from Best Buy yesterday.

It is running windows 7 32 bit.

the wireless card is the realtec b/g/n

Anyway, the wifi works great when I have it on ac power, but running on battery, the wifi constantly makes a connection, stays connected for a few seconds, and then disconnects.  It does this over and over again.

Has anyone else had this trouble on a Toshiba laptop?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Did some research and fixed my own problem.

Did two things to fix it.

First went to Device Manager and on the wireless device, deselected "let windows manage this device"

Then went to power settings and under advanced settings, set the wireless card under battery power to maximum performance instead of moderate/battery saving mode.

It is still occasionally dropping, but not nearly as often.

Re: T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Hello.

I'm finding the same issue on my Satellite A505-S6980 running Windows 7. Wireless works great under AC power but is very inconsistent when powered by the battery.

I have also made both of the changes mentioned - with no luck.

Could this ConfigFree software be involved? I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Is it just shovelware installed by Toshiba? I would prefer to let Windows run the show.

You don't need to use Toshiba's wireless utility, Scott. Windows has its own.

Re: T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Yeah, sad to say, the wireless connectivity is still very on again off again on battery

The above things helped some for me, but not nearly enough.  Very frustrating.

Out of curiosity, what kind of encryption does your network have?  I lowered my wireless security to wpa instead of wpa2, and it seems to be a bit better, but maybe I am just hoping.

Also, the longer I am online, the better it gets.  It seems to drop several times in the first few minutes, and then seems to finally find a stable channel...

Still a mystery...here's hoping a fix is on its way.

Just for a test, try disabling encryption altogether.

Re: T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Get the updated wireless drivers off Intel's website (don't use the Toshiba ones they don't fix the problem).  Toshiba should really post this as a sticky because this has fixed 3 Toshiba laptops wireless problems.

Is this an intel driver issue?  What does that have to do with the wireless card?  Can you post a link to the driver in question?  Thanks!

Re: T135-S1309 Intermittent Wireless Connectivity

Posting another possible solution....

i have the Realte 8191se wireless card in mine...not the Intel card.  There is an updated driver on the realtec site for this wireless card.

To early to tell if this solved the problem or not.

The realtec site is VERY buggy, but you should be able to navigate to the appropriate driver.

BTW mods....How often does Toshiba go out and get the latest drivers for the various peripherals in their laptops?  I went through device manager on my machine and just started going to the various websites.  The drivers were out of date on almost every peripheral, from the video card to the audio card to the wireless controller to the synaptics touch pad (newest driver adds two finger scrolling...not a minor fix.)

None of these updates show up on the Toshiba support site.  just wondering...
