Before I take this back to Best Buy, can someone explain why I can't connect to my router using the wireless connection? I have a linksys WRT54g router that I am trying to connect a Satellite L305D-S5934 laptop to. My laptop is within several feet of the router and my router is broadcasting. I see my router among the network connections (Signal Strength = Excellent, Security Type = WEP, Radio Type = 802.11g). When I enter my pass phrase I get the above error message. I have used this router setting to connect numerous laptops wirelessly to with no issues, until now.

I changed my security setting on my router to not use WEP, which is probably for the best, and was able to get the wireless network set up.

WEP is pretty much worthless as a security measure. If you can't run WPA2, you might investigate MAC address filtering, or 'whitelisting'. It won't stop a determined attack, but it will block casual intruders.
