Hey everyone, just a quick shout out to see if anyone knows the answer to my question, firstly though;
The Situation: Large environment, a mix of M700's and M750's, currently we have two images, one for each model, which we use to deploy via ghost our most up to date SOE.
What we want to do: Get it down to one image which discovers what model its deployed too via a bios setting and runs the appropriate scripts to load the right drivers.
The Problem: We'd be buggered if we knew how to set that. Essentially there's no logical looking spot in the bios to pull the model number from. We currently use the asset tag section to set the computer name which does the naming for the machine so that puts that out.
Hope there's someone out there that can give us a hand!!

I'm not sure how to do it in your setup, but you should be able to read the DMI for something like "Portege M700" or "Portege M750"
Here's a link to a windows util that will show all of the DMI info. The "Product Name" field that you want is on the "01 System Information" page.

As for how to do it from DOS or elsewhere, I don't know, but perhaps this will point you in the right direction.

Nice utility. Gonna have to add that one to my bag of tricks.
If you don't bother to post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.
