Hi there I have a Toshiba Portege R500-S5006X I recently formated the hard drive and installed the drivers for a client, well the client called and said there Fingerprint Deivce wasn't working what so ever. I logged into there computer and checked it and installed the software that was on Toshiba's website I had him try it again and got the following error.

"Laptop failed to open Sensor"

I figure that it was a driver issue well for some reason I can't find any information nor driver on Toshiba's website only software programs. Soo what I'm asking is does anyone have any idea why this is doing this or at that know were I can get a driver from?

I found the same thing happening on my machines here, though they're M700's and M750's.  You never know this might work for you.  

Firstly go to device manager and remove any biometric devices which exist there.  If there's a tick box to remove the driver software, check that and whack okay.

Remove any truesuite software which you've got installed.  Install the version which I've attached (okay it was too big to attach so its in the rapidshare link at the bottom).

We are running winows 7 here and found that the new version from both the manufacturer and the toshi website just didnt work.  Run this one through and your driver version should be from early/mid 2008.  Do not allow windows update to update it at all.
