Is there space to add a 2nd hard drive?

I dont think so. The specs doesnt say there is under expandability.

There is a bay for the secondary hard drive but you will need to get the following parts for it.

I found the secondary hard drive carrier and the drive harness for my Toshiba Qosmio G55-Q804 Here. http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com  they had both in stock, but I had to get them on the phone to look up the secondary drive carrier.  The carrier was about 5.00 and the harness was almost 8.00 US dollars. shipping was 13.00 and the parts arrived in 2 business days.

I forget the part number for the drive carrier, but the harness is Toshiba S-ATA Harness - P000504000.

Installing the harness will require removing the top cover, but it is an easy install for anyone familiar with laptop repair.

A qualified PC shop should be able to install it in about 30 minutes or less and that will give you a second hard drive capability.

From what I have seen all the G55-Q804's have the connector on the board for the harness. Good luck with it.
