Hi,
I had a Qosmio G45 - AV690 for about a year and a half now, and in the last couple of months I've encountered a problem. I'm a avid player of Video games, and up till now my Qosmio has been a great gaming computer, and hadn't given me any problems. But recently, when I play any game (any, even games that aren't top of the line give me this problem) after about 10-15 minutes (depends on the game) a fan will kick on very loudly in my laptop, and whatever game I am playing slows down to a crawl.
My suppision is that the video card over heats or something, but I'm inclined to blame the fan as well. Any ideas? This really put a problem in my use of this computer, and I'd really like to get back to the good old times, where I was playing games no problem.
Thanks for any help

I would guess that the CPU and/or the GPU are heating up to the point where the machine is having to reduce their performance to ger temps under control.
Most likely this is due to dust and such in the heat sinks. Blowing them out with canned air may or may not be effective. I ended up taking my machine apart and cleaning the heat sinks, while at the same time applying new heat sink grease on both the cpu and gpu. Not sure if this is an option for you, the machines are a real puzzle to open and put back together.
