Questions about Qosmio X505

I'm considering buying this laptop, but have a few questions:

1.  If I understand correctly, The HDM1-CEC output port allows me to "hook up" with my TV.  Does the TV have to be an HD TV?  Previously, I've used the S-video port and cable to connect to my TV.  Does my TV have to have a special input?

2.  I want to get a wireless mouse:  First, does a mouse need to state that it is Windows 7 compatible?  What are the pros and cons of a Bluetooth mouse versus a wireless mouse with a mini-receiver?  Are there any models that anyone REALLY likes or dislikes?

3.  If anyone has opinions about the X505 (good OR bad), I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Questions about Qosmio X505

Hi.

1. You tv need to have an HDMI input and I don't know if there is an analog TV with HDMI input, i think no, so, my answer is yes, you need an HDTV.

2. I think you can get the mouse you want, almost every company make drivers for newest operating systems so, i don't think that would be a problem. About a bluetooth vs a wireless mouse, well it depends, wireless mouse are less laggy, but it need a free usb port, so it depends what you need.

3. I think it is a cool computer with a very very low price for what it does.

Re: Questions about Qosmio X505

Hi!

The x505 is for sale in two models: 830 and 850.

The second one is equipped with SSD and HDD.

question 1: My I replace such SSD for HDD and set RAID 0 for these two HDD?

question 2: the first one (830) is equipped with HDD only - my I use the second bay for SSD or HDD?

question 3: Is there a limitation in SSD size to be installed for this kind of laptops?

I need a desktop replacement for HD editing.

Thank you!

Re: Questions about Qosmio X505

[ Edited ]

Replace the first HDD with an Intel 160 GB SSD.

The startuptime of windows7 AND HD editing apps will increase dramaticly.

Also place all files that need to be edited in your current project on the SSD. That will also increase your workflow by a big margin.

I ordered an x500 with two 500GB (5400 rpm) drives. The first will be replaced by an SSD, the removed HDD wil be placed in an external 2.5" eSata box ($14,-) and connected to the x500 eSata port. That's my working combination.
