I have above with 3G memory. Checking website, it said upgradeable to 4G. I bought a 2G chip...Either 2G chip works with the 1G chip, but the two 2G chips together won't boot the computer. Why? Does anyone know? Can anyone help? Rita (it's the A205-S5864)

It's a common compatibility problem. Toshiba machines are very picky about memory. Unless you use Kingston's best, they may or may not be in spec.

But don't expect to gain much with 4 GB. 32-bit Windows can't see it all.

I switched my memory from 1 gig chips in both slots (total 2gigs) to 2 gig chips in each slot(total 4 gigs). Now my A205 S5000 won't boot. If I switch either 2 gig chips back (slot A or slot B) to a 1 gig chip, then it works fine and I have 3 gigs. The detailed specs state that I should be able to have 4 gigs. Is there some sort of BIOS or whatever type upgrade that I need to do ?
