satellite 2800 memory

Laptp doesn't recognize expansion memory added. Replaced several times with two different chips and won't recognize either. Also top of laptop just started warping on me. any ides

Which 2800? There are several variants. What you describe sounds like imcompatible memory. Toshibas are very picky and only the correct Kingston module is guaranteed to be compatible. Not that other memory won't work but it generally must be specifically listed as compatible with the exact model number. Generic memory very often doesn't work.

2800 s202 is the model and kingston is the memory that i bought. It is ktt-so815/256. Thanks for the input, any help is appreciated.

That doesn't appear to be the correct memory. Kingston lists the KTTSO100 series as correct for that model. They no longer list the 256MB module but I do see it listed from other sources.
