Maybe the 5205-S705?
I wouldn't attempt to flash to ANY bios that isn't specifically for your system. The problem is that system can only hold a maximum of 1gig of ram total using 2 - 512mb sticks. You can't use 1gig sticks in that system.

right.my model is toshiba satellite 5205 s705. what i wanted to say is that i just installed 1 gb and 512 mb sticks ram and pc works if i disable acpi function. moreover it recognize thath there are 1,5 gb insinde.the problem is tha not all peripherals are recognized...yamaha audio, 1394, usb controller... cardbus... and 2 or 3 others. so i don't know how to find drivers to solve these problems. i tried to install again their drivers but it doesn't work.do you have a possible solution?

The reason that the devices are being recognized is because you have acpi turned off. SInce the reason you have to turn off acpi to run the computer is using MORE than the maximum amount of ram the system is designed for it's telling you NOT to do it. Thre is less than one chance ina trillion that you will ever be able to get that system to work with more than 1gig of ram installed using 2 x 512 sticks. If you want to waste your time playing around then go ahead. About the only chance you ahve is to turn off acpi then perform a CLEAN install of your operating system with acpi off then install the drivers, but I don't think you'll ever get the performance gain you are looking for doing that if it even works.
