I wanted to know if there is a installation pack for the drivers for the Satellite Pro S300 series for XP... The laptop didn't come with any CDs and I just don't want to be downloading every driver individually.
Thanks,
E.Vill., PhD

What is the full model number? Generally, notebooks that ship with any version of Vista except Vista Business are not eligible for the XP downgrade. Eligible machines are sold with the XP downgrade media included. If this isn't the case, you will have to buy a retail version of XP if you can find one. As far as I know, Microsoft only makes XP available to system builders under a special OEM license. You should be able to find a used copy on eBay or other used source. Once you've done that, you will have to lick the SATA drive controller problem (XP has no native support for SATA drives). You may have an installation that includes a compatibility setting in the BIOS, otherwise, you will have to get a USB floppy drive for your notebook or make a CD with the drivers included with nLite or similar. You will then have to find XP drivers and utilties for your hardware. Depending on the model, you can sometimes find similar models on the European or Asian websites that have XP drivers available. You may also be able to find similar US models. You can start your search in these forums and see what luck others have had. In some cases, there are simply no drivers/utilities available. In that case, you'll either learn to love Vista or make do with limited function.

Hi Vill,
If you had identified that you are able to install Windows Xp from the internal drive image, rest asured that the drivers are included in the image.
As I had faced, you may (or may not) have a few hicups with few devices. When I had rolled over to Windows Xp, the fingerprint reader driver was not working, the sound was better than under Win Vista, the chipset drivers were older than that was available on the toshiba driver site. The Fn key to disable the pad mouse was not working, all problems was solved with a download on the specific issues from the driver site. (using a seperate mouse here, don't like the thumb making those passes over the pad and disturbing my typing work). There is no need to download all drivers.
So summing it together: 1. (with the internal image) You can can roll over to Win XP without any issues. ( with a new Win XP CD if you can find one, or a copy from previous use or someone sells one : like christopher mentions, I have no idea if the sata HD will be detected. The tosihba win xp OEM will surely work.) 2. If few devices/functions don't work, download the appropriate drivers from the download section of this site.
Vola...it will all be good to go. And remember to download the latest updates for windows xp too. Restart the system when instructed or restart it anyways, when all updates have installed. Its a thumb rule with Windows installation. New drivers need to be loaded properly.
Not the least, the way your name is written, its so tempting to call you Dr. Evil. But you must have come so used to hearing this joke.

Johnny Bravo ;-)
