Faint sound from 205-325

The sound on my new 205-325 mini laptop is faint.  Even with volume dialed to maximum.  The machine came with Windows 7 Starter.  Anyway to get the volume high enough so that I can actually hear something?  Thanks.

I have the very same issue.  I need to be able to use this mini-notebook in presentations and the sound is FAINT....

I hope that a Toshiba Rep or moderator will direct us to a solution to our problem with this exellent device.

Re: Faint sound from 205-325

Same problem, I wish SOMEONE would get an answer.

It's obviously the Realtek drivers not being able to access all of my built in 4 speakers and a sub.

The issue is no Driver I try seems to fix it, Not the one on the toshiba site, not ANY of the ones on the Realtek site (Win 7, Vista, & XP versions).

ANYONE have any ideas?

Another one for this as well. Lack of support is disheartening.

Same problem for me.  I reloaded the driver without improvement.  I called Toshiba Tech support, was put on hold, disconnected and no call back so far.  The speaker is not audible.  This will be a deal breaker for me as I am still in the 30 day return window.  I have also had problems with the touchpad with weird things happening while I am typing.

Re: Faint sound from 205-325

I called Toshiba tech.  After over a half hour on the phone with a tech rep in the Philippines who I could barely understand, I was transferred to a Tech II.  He was just as useless. The Tech I had me reconfigure.  Useless.  Then, the Tech II had me wipe the machine clean and reinstall everything.  He then hung up.  This took 45 min.  When it was completed, my machine ran quicker (one of my other complaints), but the sound was still faint.  I wish Toshiba had some way to email them with concerns, and have them respond.  AT least my touch pad works well now, and the machine performs better.  This could also be because I didn't activate Norton, which was dragging my performance down.  I'm using the free Avast (and Lavasoft AGV) instead, and everything is fine, except for the sound.  Love the battery life!  It the T-Series a better option?

I have a 205-323 with exactly the same problem. My wife had a Satallite with the same problem. It drove me mad trying to sort out the thing without success. I'm not impressed by your experiences with the technical people.

Re: Faint sound from 205-325

I agree with other Netbook 205 users regarding the faint sounding speaker!  It is annoying that we cannot hear the audio and we haven't had a reply from Toshiba.  I also think it sucks that we cannot change the desktop background in Windows 7 starter.  If anyone has a solution to either problem, I'd appreciate any advise.  Thanks!

Re: Faint sound from 205-325

[ Edited ]

I have a Toshiba T115 and I had the same problem. I put a post in this forum and someone provided with the following solution:

Solution:

1.    Make sure to update windows 7 with all of the latest updates and even optional ones etc.

2.    Go to device manager under control panel

3.    Under sound devices uninstall Conexant Pebble driver and check box delete so it completely removes it from your laptop. (don’t worry you can reload it from the support website anytime)(don’t delete or uninstall the other sound hdmi driver)

4.    Restart the computer and it should work well with the new windows 7 high definition audio device driver.

After I did that, it works fine now, and the sound is great (or I should say, similar to my other notebooks, and I don't need the headset anymore).

Not sure if the NB205 use the same Conexant Peebble audio, but it's worth a try.

Please, report back if this solves, because I also plan to buy the awesome NB205.

Thanks.

btw, the original post with the solution from Joet115 is here:
