Satellite M305D - S4830 Sound Driver Difficulties

Hello -

I had my laptop repaired and I think they forgot to install my sound driver. My built in mic is not working on programs like Skype. I was told to download the sound driver from this site for my laptop and I did. Then I was supposed to uninstall the old sound program, but it is not listed on my programs list. After I unzipped the new driver, to upgrade, it keeps saying the end result is "FAILURE". Does anyone have any suggestions... I am following the steps and still not getting the correct response. I'd like for my sound to be workings again, this is a new laptop! Thanks!

Satellite M305D-S4830

Is this the driver you are using, Anners?

Conexant Audio Driver for Windows Vista

I was supposed to uninstall the old sound program, but it is not listed on my programs list.

To uninstall the old driver, open Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click on the Conexant device, and click Uninstall.

Hi Jerry,

That is the driver I would LIKE to be using, currently the only one under my Device Manager is  High Definition Audio Device. When I try to install the Conexant driver it comes up as FAILURE each time?

Also - when I try to uninstall the Hugh Definition Audio one, it automatically reinstalls itself - I'm not sure what to do....

If you can't see the Conexant device, it's probably malfunctioning.

The only way to tell for sure is to restore the hard drive to its original factory-fresh state using Toshiba recovery discs. Everything should work then.

But that wipes the drive clean of everything you've added.
