Thanks for the tip! I tried it out successfully on my T115-S1105 last night, and your solution is a solid temporary fix! It renders the laptop speakers acceptable, though I do hope we will get more sound out of the system with upgraded drivers.
I bought my Toshiba mainly because I tend to turn it off and on a lot throughout the day, and I wanted to be able to exploit the 9-hour battery power while on the run. I am delighted with this outstanding laptop. The on/off system works as promised, with stable and reliable restore functions. The screen resolution is first rate -- much better (brighter, more crisp) than my old-generation Toshiba that was more than twice the weight and three times the price. The keyboard is okay -- it does take some time to adapt. The mouse buttons are frustrating -- demanding more pressure than usual, and hard to hold for cutting and pasting. I honestly don't understand the point of such an "innovation"--a one-bar mouse button -- where the internal springs demand a lot heavier touch than any mouse I have ever used. Pointless. But yes, one can use the pad to bypass the buttons.
I bought the laptop as a work machine, primarily for presentations. But I find that I prefer it for writing now--and pull it out often throughout the day. I have sat for hours at a time working with the computer nestled on my legs -- and the heat when plugged in is minor, not noticeable. And there is almost no heat when the laptop is operating on the battery alone. In contrast to my old system, the fan is virtually silent.
All in all, this is a superb machine--a cut above the low-end netbooks, and the extra batttery power makes it an invalubale and reliable tool.

For those that have done this fix, how much more sound do you get?

Thanks for providing this fix!!
It works really nice now, and the sound level is very similar to the other notebooks I have (an HP and Lenovo).
I will update my review on Amazon with this fix! Thanks again.
I wonder if this fix would apply to the NB205 also...

I've tried this too, and it appears to I'd say triple the sound output. It was almost un-hearable under the stock drives, and the fix makes listening to websites, etc. entirely usable. I agree they need to issue a revised set of drivers to beef up the sound considerably.
Other than the sound issue, we love the t115 so far. We'll be taking a trip in two weeks, and I think this will be just the ticket for computing on the go...

So I removed that driver and it definitely made a big difference. However, here I am a week later and i was trying to use Skype and apparently my computer is not picking up anything from the built-in microphone. i call someone and i can hear them but they can't hear me. i also tried using the windows voice recorder and it didn't record anything. has anyone else had problems with the built-in microphone? i dont know if i used it before i removed the driver so i'm not certain if removing the driver was the problem but that was my first hunch. thanks!

Yes it does work. I use skype too.
To everyone who installed the driver I told you. What happens is that driver for the sound is also the drier for the mic. The mic works you just need to adjust the settings because it is more sensitive I think. For some reason the mic levels are set to 0 and you just need to change it.
1) go to control panel
2) click sound
3) you will see playback at the top next to that is the recording tab.
4) click recording tab
5) two microphones will show up. One will say unplugged the other will say default device. That is the one that works. If you don't have two don't worry about it.
6) click the default device microphone after it highlights hit properties tab below
7) on the tabs above hit level tab set microphone level to 35% and boost to +40 all the way to the right. That is what I use so far. Sometimes if the boost or level is set to high then it picks up a lot of background noise. You just need to figure out what works for you. As I said before I think it is more sensitive now than before.
