Trying to get a Satellite L305-S5894 running again and having a problem.
Reinstalled from recovery disks. Getting as far as the installation of the DVD Player drivers when the machine stops the installation process.
Here is what is happening. The machine reboots after the previous installation step. A full screen size blue window telling me "Applying Final Configuration" appears. (I minimize that.) The WinZip Self-Extractor fires off, extracting the Toshiba DVD Player v. 1.31.14 files. A second blue window appears stating "Installing TOSHIBA DVD Player" across the top with progress indicator moving back and forth further down the screen. This is where the system remains. If I attempt any keystrokes or mouse clicks the system freezes entirely. Let the DVD player install run overnight hoping it was a slow install process, but N/G.
Any suggestions?
Pete

Pete, my best guess is that something is wrong with the installation discs.
Sometimes copying them to other blanks fixes things.
