I'm trying to restore my Tecra A9-S9021V to factory and the restore process keeps stopping with error 03-FFFF-0000. I know this is not a new problem as I see it all over the message board. Does anyone have a fix other than "send it back to Toshiba"? I never had any problems with this machine. Never had the motherboard replaced, nothing. Why won't their restoration utility work and what can I do to fix it? The techs at the Toshiba 800 number have no clue. They just keep telling me to mail it to them and I'll get it back in 10 days. That's unacceptable as this is a business laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

From what i can glean from searching on that error, it is a DMI string problem. As there is no DMI utility for your model, the only fix is to send it to Toshiba. If you find that 10 days is, as you say, 'unacceptable', you may want to see if there is a Premier Service Center close to your location where you can arrange for carry-in service. Find a list of Premier Service Centers by clicking on the 'Repair' link at the top of the page.

I gleaned the same info and came to the same conclusion. I was hoping someone knew differently. Seems odd that I need to take a computer for a DMI update when it never had any work done to it. That means it came straight out of the factory with the wrong DMI info in it.

Oh, forgot to mention, no service centers near me either. Already had Toshiba support look that info up. Guess I'm stuck with a 10 day turn around. I'll have to keep that in mind when I'm ready to buy our next round of laptops. Lenovo has a service center within 20 miles of me. :-)

Yes, and as far as I'm aware, Lenovo doesn't use a fragile system like Toshiba's DMI.
If you're going to have to send it somewhere, you may want to send it to a Premier Center rather than the Toshiba Depot. Toshiba owners in another forum I'm associated with have stated that the service at a Premier Center is faster and more personal than the Depot. Luckily, no Toshiba I've owned has had to be serviced, so I can't speak from personal experience.
Best of luck.
