A friend just purchased a 8100 with a 12 gig hard drive. Has anyone ever upgraded the hard drive capacity via a usb external hard drive. If so will it handle a 160gig or will I hav e to change the bios version. or is it even possible. Thanks...

If you want to boot Windows from an external drive, that's not possible.

It's easy to add an external drive via USB for, say, data storage. No problem.

Keep in mind that the 8100 may very well have USB1 USB ports, and thus be kind of (very) slow.
