My Tecra A9 currently has a 120 Gb 7200 rpm SATA 1.5 Gb/s. Would upgrading to a 3.0 Gb/s model give a noticeable boost in performance? Can the A9 recognize and use a 3.0 Gb/s hard drive? Thanks for the comments!
Probably not. If the system shipped with a 1.5GB/S drive, then the SATA controller is likely a 1.5GB/S controller, indicating that the machine was released before the 3GB/S hardware was generally available.
