Warranty Repair

On July 12, my keyboard o key started typing itself automatically. And non-stop. On the 16th, I took it to a tech center that was 1 hour away (the closest one there is). On the 17th they ordered me a new keyboard. On the 21st, I found out that the keyboard was back ordered until MAYBE the 31st. How come it takes so long for a keyboard to be sent? I'd replace it myself if I didn't have the warranty anymore. Also- it isn't cool that the Toshiba laptops don't have a way to disable the default keyboard. I can't even use a wireless keyboard at this point. This is my only computer for research and this issue is seriously hurting it.

I spent 30 minutes on hold this morning getting the run around at Toshiba trying to find the problem. And still no answer about what the current status of my laptop keyboard is. Is there any way to force someone's hand? Or can I have Toshiba send me a keyboard so I can bring it into a service center to replace?

Re: Warranty Repair

I don't know of ANY laptop where the internal keyboard can be disabled.

There probably aren't any replacement keyboards for Toshiba to send you anyway.  If there were, the ASP would get one.

You can have my sympathy, FWIW.

Re: Warranty Repair

The ETA has been pushed back again. So now I'm waiting 3 weeks, maybe more, for a keyboard. What I don't get is why they would not have them in stock and then why they would make their customers wait this long. This really is poor customer service and I really want to know what their deal is. There really is no excuse. For a keyboard.

I have this toshiba but I'm pretty but I probably won't be buying another one.

Re: Warranty Repair

Be glad your warranty worked! I've been fighting with Toshiba and service net for over a week. They cancelled my warranty when I went to use it. Toshiba says I have one but Service Net says I don't, they wont talk to each other all they do is point the finger at the other. I'm screwed with out, it I use mine for  work and school. I have thousands of dollars worth of programs on it and now I can't get anything done until Toshiba gets off their butts and make Service net restore my warranty. I've sent copies of my receipts for the computer and the warranty to both sides but after more than a week still nothing. And that was after spending 3 HOURS on the phone between the 2 companies.
