broken hinge & broken power plug

are there replacement parts available to replace a broken hinge & the broken internal power plug? My warranty expired a year ago & my laptop is falling apart. The same thing happened to my friend with this same problems. Everything is still operable but the shell is slowly falling apart. I've owned this laptop almost 5 years ago & I have just used the recovery disc to restore my unit to it's original state. Now that it was working fine I could not power up since the internal plug broke off so I could not charge my battery or connect the power source to the wall. I was asking for a possible extended warranty coverage but customer representatives would not accommodate me. I believe my next laptop would either be a different brand with durable parts or if it is a Toshiba 5 yrs warranty would be required.

Re: broken hinge & broken power plug

Hi, this is my first try at the forum thing. Yes parts are available if not from Toshiba, than eBay or Craigs List. You can get broken units and use the parts or specific parts for your unit. The catch is you need to change them yourself. If you have to have a tech to do it (Depending on the size of the repair.), that could be good money toward a new computer with service contract. Then go on eBay or Chraigs List and sell yours for parts, more money for your new computer.

I think you can also order the parts from http://www.nationalparts.com/Load.aspx?file=home.npd

Re: broken hinge & broken power plug

Here are two good sources for Toshiba parts.

   National Parts Depot

   Spare Parts Warehouse
