My old S1 crashed and when I tried to restore it with the two recovery disks that came with it. The first failure made it through the first disk but wouldn't read the second. my second attempt failed in middle first disk with unable to read files midway through.
Will Toshiba exchange my old disks for new. If not how can I fix this short of downloading off bit torrent somewhere.
I'm assuming to run a toshiba laptop you need all the designated toshiba adators to xp to run it?
Is it possible to put linox or windows 7 on this laptop? If so, do I need special laptop drivers to download from Toshiba.
I really expected Toshiba's recovery disks to work, its quite irritating they won't.

You can order replacement recovery disks by calling (800) 457-7777. They will want your serial number and a credit card to cover shipping and handling. Last I looked that was $24.95 standard, $29.95 overnight. As far as I know, there is nowhere that you can download the disk images. You can install Linux on it provided you're computer savvy enough to get it running with Linux. I wouldn't try installing Vista or Windows 7 on that machine. If it would install the performance would be pretty marginal even if you could find the necessary drivers. Toshiba doesn't have drivers beyond Windows XP so that might be a real chanllenge.
