I'm using a Satellite Pro S300-2504 with a built in web camera. When I turn on the camera from it's control panel, it's horizontally backward from my movements. I understand why but there is a box to check that correct this. Also, the picture starts out way too dark, and there is a box I can check that brings it to normal. When I click these settings and click on save, they stay until I put the computer in suspend or shut it off. Then it looses all settings and reverts to it's defaults.
I've tried updating the software - no change. Does anyone have suggestions on making the "Save" button really save the settings? I am using Windows XP Pro (came with the computer). I've also tried the computer with Vista (also came with the computer - both operating systems were bundled as a custom PC order). Anyway, the same thing happens in Vista - it won't keep the settings for the camera.
Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

That pretty much tells us that it's not a software problem. It's either the hardware or (unlikely) something in the BIOS.

Got the same problem on the laptop i'm using too.
Got a Sony W-290 HD still camera that can shoot at a rate of 720p motion picture too. Coupled it with a 3rd party solution - EasyCap USB accessoy and now using as the primary web cam.
Yes, people can watch me in HD format (wide lens :-) ) rather than default crappy inbuilt the web cam.
If the above solution crosses your mind, reconsider that the battery of this camera drains fast! You can web cam chat for about 45 mins(?) in HD video mode. Its related to the USB accessory. On normal used, the camera battery last longer 3+ hrs (in video mode and depending on the large memory card - i'm using and swapping between two 2GB cards. Not practical, just that i got the two cards for free during an offer period).
